Accessed easily from I-70, Lawrence is home to the University of Kansas Jayhawks, and the Watkins Community Museum of History. Guests of the Best Western hotel in Lawrence enjoy visits to Clinton State Park, located on the north shore of Clinton Lake. Here, visitors enjoy a range of activities from fishing and boating, to picnics and birding - take the kids. Those looking for a spot of local culture and art enjoy exploring the Spencer Museum of Art - minutes from downtown, it's on the University of Kansas campus. Be sure to take the kids to the Prairie Park Nature Center for a good ol' fashioned nature walk - it's always free to get it in, and the trails are open so long as there's sunlight. Lawrence isn't just museums, art and nature - college sports is a rich tradition in theses parts.
Fall, winter and spring travelers no doubt want to visit the University of Kansas campus, and head to Allen Fieldhouse where the University of Kansas Jayhawks slam and jam their way through the Big 12 conference in hopes of securing yet another bid into the NCAA March Madness tournament. The season begins in November and runs through the holidays to April. So, when on holiday in eastern Kansas, be sure to make Lawrence a planned visit.
